Tim Duncan was just 2-of-12 on the night as San Antonio lost 87-79 to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The veteran center did manage 10 rebounds, but was held without double figures for the second consecutive game. Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio led the Timberwolves with 18 points with Love grabbing 16 boards and Rubio dishing out 10 assists. Highly regarded draft pick Derrick Williams dropped in 12 points off the bench on 6-of-10 shooting.
The Timberwolves remain, at 9-10, the only team with a losing record in the Northwest division as leaders Oklahoma City set a strong pace with an NBA leading 16-3 mark. The Thunder picked up their fourth in a row on Friday with a 120-109 win over the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA. Kevin Durant had a game-high 37 points to lead the way and also had 14 rebounds as Oklahoma City started their three-game road trip.
Fellow division rivals the Utah Jazz weren't so fortunate falling to the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks 116-101. Rodrique Beaubois took over point guard duties for the Mavs after Jason Kidd headed to the locker room with a calf problem and hit a game-high 22 points while registering seven assists.
The Spurs are 2.80 to win the NBA Championship while the Timberwolves are 7501.00 and the Mavericks are 7501.00.
